Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL)

The Purpose of Malkara School’s Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) is to build a positive environment where students feel safe and confident to establish respectful relationships. The framework supports all stakeholders in creating a safe, positive, predictable and consistent environment. These consistent approaches not only nurture wellbeing but also empower students to engage in their learning, helping them to thrive both socially and academically.

Malkara is continuing to implement and sustain the PBL Framework by establishing schoolwide systems and practices. Malkara has adopted the values of We are Safe, We Learn and We Care. Students learn about the values through classroom lessons and applying the skills in school and the community.

PBL is a framework for the school and its community, to collectively support the wellbeing of every student by: Clarifying and defining expected behaviours and procedures Encouraging expected behaviour through specific positive feedback Teaching all students what is expected of them Staff delivering consistent responses to student learning and behaviour Students feeling safe and cared for at school Data, systems and practices driving the process
